The Probinsyana Diaries

This is my first haul post as well. Ye'y! I've always wanted to make a blog that would express my thoughts and alter-ego. So Good luck to me! (fingers-crossed)

As my first ever blog post, let me share to you this haul. I don't know if anybody has also tried searching for discount coupons on the internet like me but to my dismay, Im only redirected to some misleading ads. I've always envied US residents because they can avail of discount coupons, promos plus free samples! But now, Filipino residents can finally have a shot in trying out the products first before buying it.

Have you ever heard of the Sample Room? It has it's own way of allowing people to have free samples! Yes! Free samples. I'll have a separate post about this site next time.

So let's go straightforward. Here's my haul on what I got from the Sample Room.
It's delivered via Xend. I paid 130php since I live in the province, For MM residents you pay lesser.

Enclosed in a paper bag sealed by a cute pink sticker containing their logo

Dear Diary,

Have you ever tried experimenting with food? It's so much fun discovering new ways of preparing and eating food, right?
So yesterday, I made Kamias or 'Iba' Juice and decided to share to you the recipe.

But first, let me tell you what Kamias is. According to wikipedia, Kamias has a scientific name of Averrhoa bilimbi (commonly known as bilimbi, cucumber tree, or tree sorrel). It is a fruit-bearing tree of the genus Averrhoa, familyOxalidaceae. It is a close relative of carambola tree.

In the Philippines,it is commonly found in backyards. As a matter of fact, we have 2 in our very own backyard. Sometimes we eat the fruits either raw or we dip it on rock salt. We also add it as a souring agent for the common Filipino dish sinigang or pork stew.

A kamias tree in our very own garden
Since it is quite acidic and of course rich in Vit. C, I tried making it into a cooling beverage.
So here's the recipe:

Ingredients:
1. 1 cup Kamias fruit, sliced
2. 1/2 cup sugar
3. 1 Liter Water
4. 2 tbsp honey

You will need:
1. A blender
2. A strainer
3. A pitcher
4. Ice

Procedure:
1. Combine all the Ingredients in the blender
2. Shake until you'll see a frothy, white, substance on top of the mixture
3. Prepare the juice to be transferred to the container and make sure to use a strainer.
4. Add ice and enjoy your Kamias/Iba juice

I hope you get to try this recipe! It's very refreshing and so rich in Vitamin C!

Love,

Dear Diary,

My family decided to have a family outing. It was one rare occasion and we had to make the most out of it. We decided to spend it in Cacao Mountain Resort. Aside from being accessible, the amenities and ambiance of the place made it suitable for a family gathering. It had 2 swimming pools. There was a water fall nearby that supplied water for both the adult sized pool and the children's pool. The weather made it even more relaxing and laid-back. We can't help but enjoy the scenery - - -luscious green trees, refreshingly cool water and tall mountains surrounding the resort.

My grandma bonding with us. She sure is still groovy at 80!

My wacky siblings having a jump-shot.

Another (failed) attempt.Haha
Other than the pool, you will also see some nature-inspired areas of the resort such as their fishpond, hanging bridge and some wall murals:

The highlight, of course, is this waterfall and this is us simply having fun with it:

It's nice to spend time with your loved ones and bond with them. Family has always been my priority ever since and they mean the whole world to me.

(P.S. I hope the resort will offer a variety of food and drinks so that guests can readily order some dishes. It's something that they lack, which for me is a really important service a resort should  have. It's also a great way to attract gastronome visitors. )

Love,

 Dear Diary,
This is my first Probinsyana post. My sister and I decided to go on a hike to Mama Mary's Shrine in our city. We had to climb/hike in order to reach our destination. But it was all worth it. I don't need to explain much and these pictures will speak for themselves.

Once you reach the top, you'll see this  panoramic view of Maasin City on a gloomy afternoon.

Of course the iconic Mama Mary Shrine seemingly overseeing the humble city also awaits you.

An open-space church built where the holy mass is celebrated.

My sister showing her contemplative side

This is me trying out a lazy, laid-back pose.

We definitely had fun on our visit to this peaceful and holy shrine. Of course this isn't the last. See you on our next trip!

Love,
